theloniusfleabag Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Dear Charles Anthony, The problems with evironmental pollution have a hope of being solved by selling off all public lands and denying government authority.Sounds good, as long as you kill off all the humans, too. As an example, we could start off by eliminating pollution/dumping laws. I do believe our dear Hugo said something like, "Since when did pollution become a tort?" Logical yet ridiculous. I am lost. Are we choosing or are we being forced? We choose now, but because of our choices, the options become less and less, and one day we will be forced. Not by legislation, but by neccesity. Trust me, a big choice is coming our way. It shall both transcend and include all. Quote Would the Special Olympics Committee disqualify kids born with flippers from the swimming events?
Charles Anthony Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Let me be clear: I believe our pollution problems are a direct result of Statesmen giving special privilege to multi-national corporations and creating "public" space. Without the bloated distortions created by Statesmen and their supporters (both the gullible and the profiteering), most of our commercial choices would be vastly different. Unfortunately, we can not go back in time. Nevertheless, looking to the State to solve the problem of pollution is like looking for an advertizing contract to end a sponsorship scandal. We choose now, but because of our choices, the options become less and less, and one day we will be forced. Not by legislation, but by neccesity. Trust me, a big choice is coming our way. It shall both transcend and include all. Before you get all cryptic on me -- my spider senses tell me you are trying to sneak The One And Only Scooby Dooby Doo Theory into this -- I will simply say that I agree. With enough time, I can see modern States going bankrupt, our environment going down the drain and people finding more honorable ways of socializing because the luxuries of hiding one's responsibility behind a State will no longer be affordable. theloniusfleabag Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Dear Charles Anthony, I believe our pollution problems are a direct result of Statesmen giving special privilege to multi-national corporations and creating "public" space. Not so, 'public space' is the most highly defended against dumping, etc. within 'states'. I suspect things would actually be way worse in a fully 'private' system. The multi-nationals would simply buy (or bribe) space to dump, with no consequences. The people downriver of the Nuclear power plant might claim "United We Stand!", but that would only because they had given birth to 4 generations of 3 headed Siamese Twins (or 'conjoined', whatever the PC term is nowadays). With enough time, I can see modern States going bankrupt, our environment going down the drain and people finding more honorable ways of socializing because the luxuries of hiding one's responsibility behind a State will no longer be affordable.Or behind the guise of 'individual freedom', when it is not tempered with responsibility. Charles Anthony Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Not so, 'public space' is the most highly defended against dumping, etc. within 'states'.I should be more clear because what YOU are defining as "public space" is too limited. The sidewalk between my house and your house is what I call "public" space . I suspect things would actually be way worse in a fully 'private' system. The multi-nationals would simply buy (or bribe) space to dump, with no consequences.I would suspect that most of our multi-nationals would not exist in a fully "private" system.Or behind the guise of 'individual freedom', when it is not tempered with responsibility. You are starting to understand mArket forces. Let me know when you want A membership card. Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>
