They happen because we have a corrupt justice system. The justice system serves the legal profession exclusively and not the public. This is the reason most judicial decision are WRONG here.

Lawyers cost way too much money for the work they do. The do work worth $10 per hour and charge $500 an hour for it as a rule rather than an exception.

People here have a misguided belief that our lawyers and judges are honerable people, when most are not much better than crack addicted gutter sluts, only addicted to MONEY and have no personal integrity or honour in their profession.

People with the mistaken belief than we have a legitimate legal system and who know they are innocent will not spend evert last penny they have to prove they are innocent. They trust in the legal system and its (FALSE) honour and (FALSE) integrity and will spend only so much to defend themselves when they know they are innocent.

On the other hand the GUILTY and FALSE ACCUSERS will spend everything they must to pervail in court because they know they are GUILTY or LIARS and relly on spending money to get away with their GUILT.

Judges and lawyers know this very well and have designed a system that will fleece everyone in the process as much as possible to enrich the legal profession at the expense of the civilian population.

There are historical reasons of how Canada allowed this perversion to come about which we can discuss further in this line of thread as the discussions unfould.

Good and timely topic.

Spoken like someone who has intimate knowledge of our justice system. Tell us, how much time did you get or was it only a fine and probation?

Become a lawyer then if it is that easy. Come on man, for 500 bucks you are only working 10 bucks an hour. You will be on easy street.

I like to point out hypocrisy from time to time. In another thread I was called a troll over my statement over the Comuzzi boot out. Looking at this thread, if I may steal your phrase "Pot meet Kettle". Quite humourous actually.

In contrast to the prosecutors?

BTW, how do you explain the various and diverse wrongful convictions, the frequent jailing of innocent people, the repeated, seemingly endless parade of victims of unjust verdicts? Cripes, I can't even name them all anymore. And that's just the murder convictions! Imagine how many poor sods must be doing time for lesser wrongful convictions! Probably 20-50% of the guys in prisons are actually innocent.

Cops can arrest anyone they suspect of committing a crime and cart them off to jail. Probably 20-50% of people found innocent in trials are in fact guilty of crimes and got off on a technicality. Imagine how many poor people are victims of crime because timmy the crook got off on a technicality. If those people are so innocent they get a chance to appeal their crimes while in jail. That's why we don't have the death penalty, it gives them a chance to prove their innocence. How do you explain all the street gang members wandering around the streets who get off on technicalities all the time? Please enlighten me of all these wrongful convictions, if they are found wrong the suspect is eventually released. That part of our justice system is fine.

Is anybody else getting sick of these inane poll's?

This is obviously nothing more than slandering Crown Prosecutors and Police Officers. If someone think's the they want innocent people to get convicted, then they obviously have a distorted view of the world. As well I highly doubt 50% of the people in jail are innocent, which I think is just a BS number made out of pure speculation.

You can't name any, that's the problem. I can think only a minor few who have been wrongfully convicted.

With numberless wrongful convictions that have been perpetrated all over Canada, I'm trying to figure out why they happen.

What on earth is numberless?

Actually, the true number of wrongfully convicted people that are sitting behind bars is 100%-ask anyone inside prison.

This is the most stupid poll I have seen yet. Well maybe not, but it's up there.

Do you actually believe Crown Prosecutors or Police Officers want to see innocent people convicted of crimes they did not convict? Grab a brain. Mistakes do happen, people make errors in judgement, but I don't believe they set out to have this happen.

And for the few cases that do gain media attention, how many proper convictions do you think there are every day? I think when these mistakes are made, maybe it is due to the fact that there are not enough defence lawyers funded by the government to provide people with the kind of legal defence they deserve. I mean, do you think Conrad Black would be using a public defender?

Well yes. It has been proven many times that a police officer has planted evidence on order to arrest an innocent person. The officer in many cases has been caught and charged and convicted himself. Do a google search on it.It's there

There have been many cases where, when the authorities have been under public pressure to make an arrest in a case going no where, have framed an innocent person just to please the press and the public. Most times it is an 'indian' or a hippy looking person or an ex con framed.( in the States it is normally a coloured person)You know the type? They make sure they take the worst looking mug shot of the person, then release the picture to the press.

And of course many of these people cannot afford a decent lawyer and are convicted.

Everyone is now happy, except of course the innocent person sitting in jail. Unless of course if he hasn't been executed.

Here's a good one for you sideshow

John Thompson came within two days of execution for the 1984 shooting death of Ray Liuzza, a hotel operator in New Orleans. A last-minute stay based on previously unreleased evidence saved his life.

In 2002, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal ruled that Thompson deserved a new murder trial, citing the prosecution's "intentional hiding" of evidence -- a blood sample -- that an investigator working for Thompson's attorneys discovered in 1999. The blood sample from the perpetrator did not match Thompson. A retrial in May resulted in a jury acquitting Thompson.

Notice the word "INTENTIONAL?"

Release all the crooks in prison and put all the lawyers in prison and there will be a net increase in the number of crooks behind bars.

Dont want to back up your post huh?

I gave you my opinions. You don't have an opinion of your own to share and you agree with me but hate to admit it prefering to stiffle these proper and legitimate discussion to sweep these serious problems under the rug.

Yet your criticism was about my comments, rather than the poll.

I say wrongful convictions are numberless in Canada because they keep on coming up. We are not hearing of any end to them and we don't know how many more there are. We do know that since only murder cases have gotten attention so far, it's a virtual certainty that among people convicted for other offences there are innocents as well.

You don't know the difference between a point of view and a fact?

You have no point of view to contradict mine. So the ball is in your court... You are the one that is shut up with your foot in your mouth.

What is your contrary point of view? If you have any?

Do you know the actual number of wrongful conviction's in the 90's?
