Leafless Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 "Never in the history of Canadian politics have we seen such blackmail, such threats," Boisclair told supporters during a Sunday night campaign stop. Boisclair suggested Charest and Harper have a tacit agreement to protect each other against a potential sovereigntist victory in the election. "Every time Ottawa harms Quebec, he (Charest) keeps quiet, trying not to harm his own interests, especially to avoid harming his friend, Mr. Harper," Boisclair said. "Mr. Harper and Mr. Charest are intimately tied. They are setting us up, they're putting one past us in order to save their skins." http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national...0c0f3c3&k=64607 -------------------------------------------------------- This is getting downright nasty. Is Mr. Bosclair simply a clone of Rene Levesque or is Mr. Harper indeed interfering in Quebec politics? Quote
Cameron Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I think it's just the separatists looking for an in. I hope they loose. The last thing this country needs is another referendum on separating Quebec. PS - I don't like these whiny French people. geoffrey Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 The last think this country needs is another referendum on separating Quebec. Au contraire, step one in increased provincial autonomy is Quebec departing. You see, I personally like the ADQ. But their victory means my province shelling out more to Quebec, eventually Alberta might see some benefit of more decentralised government. If the PQ wins, and a referendum is successful, then Alberta keeps more money and Ottawa will have their hand forced on revisiting all the arrangements. It's very selfish perhaps, but I'm sure my passport will still get me into Montreal to eat their fantastic food and enjoy their incrediable music scene.. My reality, and the reality of most Canadians though only improves without Quebec. I have no interest in Quebec being part of Canada, I really have no interest in anyone being part of Canada unconditionally. If it comes to it, I would support Alberta seperation under some conditions. I would fear for the massive emigration to Alberta though from the RoC. It's all about the taxes. If Quebec will be happier outside of Canada, I think they should leave as soon as possible and stop dragging out the process. I hope they do what's in their best interest. Mad_Michael Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 If someone is 'blackmailing' Quebec, all I can say is, that's a refreshing change. I'm sure it won't last and will return to normal soon enough. Quote

Speak for yourself , I want no part of any breakup of this fine country. It will split the country in more ways than onhe knows. What happens to Atlantic Canada? As for emigration, why hasnt that occurred since the ROC by your estimation is in the dumps? Maybe....just maybe.... easterners will leave Alta and return home? Maybe my signature at the bottom of all my posts should read........................... IF YOU LIVE IN WESTERN CANADA THANK THE EAST AND THE FRENCH...WE STARTED THIS COUNTRY How does that sound? Canadian Blue Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 IF YOU LIVE IN WESTERN CANADA THANK THE EAST AND THE FRENCH...WE STARTED THIS COUNTRY How does that sound? Lousy...?.....I agree But didn't aboriginal's start spreading out from the western portion of the country. I believe they actually first found land around the Edmonton area, then spread out from there. I believe I read that in Gun's, Germ's, and Steel.
