JerrySeinfeld Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Another terror plot was foiled in England. Hold your breath - it's only seconds before the obligatory "this isn't a trend" and "no jihad to see hear" apologists start screaming about how we need to start thinking about caving to terrorism. Perhaps it is just a diversion to keep people from thinking about Tony Blair's own investigation by the police. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/02/01...lice/index.html Quote
Black Dog Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 "see hear" Glad to see law enforcement is working. If these cats were up to soemthing, they should be prosecuted accordingly. If this is an actual terrorist plot, it clearly indicates that not everyone got the "we're fighting them there so we don't have to do it here" memo. Quote

Yes, because as we know everything in the world is black and white. Quote
Black Dog Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Yes, because as we know everything in the world is black and white. Um... dude, I hate to break it to you, but I'm not the one peddling the manichean "we're fighting them there so we don't have to do it here" construct. You are. Indeed, I'll even give you credit for having acknowledged that the phenomenon of terrorism and the peretuation of radical ideals has gone global; the problem is that acknowledgement undermines your "there/not here" theory. The genie is out of the bottle and throwing the ME into a state of total chaos and bloodshed is not going to achive the ends you think. As well, these arrests and others like it show that law enforcement, detective work and good intel are the best weapons against terrorism (something we lefties have long advocated), not messanic projects to project western values through military force. Only time will tell....personally I think bush is diong a great job and history will be much kinder to him - as with Reagan. Quote
Black Dog Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 Only time will tell....personally I think bush is diong a great job and history will be much kinder to him - as with Reagan. That's it? Weak. Can't say I'm all that surprised, I guess. Personally, though, the deference to judgement of history is a pretty chickenshit route to take. Why, if I didn't know better, I would swear that it's indicative of a lack of depth to your/Bush's strategy and "long-term vision". But maybe that's just 'cause I gots the Attention Defecit...hey! Is that a nickle? As for Reagan, any reference to him cannot be complete without a link to ol' Hitch. (I'll say this for Hitchens: though I loathe his personality and his drunken leurching around the political spectrum, as a polemicist, he sets the bar to where stunted hacks like Steyn can only dream of touching.) GostHacked Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Come back to this thread in about 6 months to a year. We will see if anyone of them terrorists actually have been formally charged and tried.... I will bet they get charged with a DIFFERENT OFFENCE that does not even relate to the terror plot, OR they all will be let off. No one finds it interesting that those "Muslim Terrorists" wanted to cut the head off another MUSLIM who happened to be in the British Military... interesting eh? Quote
