The best the Islamists will give is a houdna, not real peace. Negotiating with them is indeed a waste of time. John Bolton: Mideast Peace Efforts a Waste FoxNews.com Sunday , January 14, 2007 discoverthenetwork.org <More Here> As Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice meets with Mideast leaders to jumpstart the peace process, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton called the attempt a waste of time. Bolton, who also said it's time another body replace the United Nations, told the Sunday Times of London the Arab-Israeli conflict was “not a priority," adding: “I don’t see linkage to Iraq, and Hamas and Fatah are in a state of civil war.” Now back at American Enterprise Institute, Bolton let loose on a variety of topics during the interview, from negotiating nuclear weapons with Iran to the reunification of the Korean peninsula. “I wouldn’t have engaged in negotiations with Iran in the first place,” he told the paper, in a nod to Britain, France and Germany, nations that have made contact with Tehran. “The policy has failed. Sanctions won’t stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons.” (snip) Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Figleaf Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 "... Bolton, who also said it's time another body replace the United Nations, Is Bolton some kind of moron? What does it mean, "replace" the UN? If you 'replace' the UN, all you are doing is renaming the UN. Like changing from the Fourth to the Fifth Republic. ... told the Sunday Times of London the Arab-Israeli conflict was “not a priority," For whom? Quote

guyser Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 I really know very little of John Bolton. I have read some of his opinions , and I thought perhaps he would be good for the UN and US. Didnt last very long and I am not sure why. Too confrontational perhaps? I think his blowing off any chance at peace via talk is short sighted at best , and political suicide at worst. Why can't he just let talks advance ? I share some of his sentiments, albeit quietly , but think that his best option was to present that in private to his bosses when he worked for the White House. No, it takes 60 votes in the Senate to terminate debate. The Democrats held 45 out of 100 seats; enough to prevent a vote. How long have peace talks gone on where the Arabs have not negotiated in good faith? Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Black Dog Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 How long have peace talks gone on where the Arabs have not negotiated in good faith? Yeah: it's always just Teh Ayrabs. Quote
guyser Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 How long have peace talks gone on where the Arabs have not negotiated in good faith? Fair enough, but the other answer is now ...what? Full blown out war? Quote
blackascoal Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 The Isreali people are just as much victims of Zionism as the American people have been victims of the neocon cabal .. and Isreal is in violation of more UN Resolutions that any nation in history. But it's always the arabs fault. Quote

Fair enough, but the other answer is now ...what? Full blown out war? Basically, since Biblical times that's what it's come down to. He is just a professional pundit now with no actual recipes for doing anything differently. Quote
