JerrySeinfeld Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 This might have been covered already (I've been sunning myself for a couple of weeks) but did anyone hear about the New York Times reporting on some classified US proposal to undermine and subvert the Syrian Dictatorship? First of all I think it's a great idea and further illustrates the longer-term, visionary thinking of the Bush administration in it's mid-east policy. This as opposed to the short term ADD "I'm tired of the war" routine. Since Syria and Iran and the principal sources of insurgency, it would only make sense on the way to victory, to take out Syria's rulers, cutting off the supply of arms to Hezbollah and corner Iran. Over the long term this could mean democracy in the region and ultimately mid-east peace. Cue the New York Times, who seem to be making entire careers out of "de-classifying" classified military information. They published the proposal. Better yet, the CBC interviewed the reporter on the radio in some bastardized attempt to make it look like a "bad" idea. So much for "winning one for the gipper". It seems the New York times is more interested in discrediting GW Bush than protecting american interests and soldier's lives. The plan, again, demonstrates GW Bush's advanced and forward looking foreign policy genius and highlights the short term thinking of johnny come lately way opponents. Quote
Black Dog Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Is a link really so much to ask? And here's a question about the "genius" plan to overturn Syria: if Baby Assad falls, who gets put in his place? Quote

I heard it on CBC radio - I believe "as it happens" interviewing the NYT reporter who broke the story. I don't really want to spend hours looking for it online so you'll have to take my word for it. C'mon - is it really so hard to believe? Why would I make it up. Quote

GostHacked Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Provide links next time please or else it is all just herasy.. err heresay whatever. And it took you longer to write 'im too lazy to provide link' than to actually search it. Or cut and past it from where you were reading it. Oh you did not read it, you heard it on the news. If it was not for Black Dog, I may have ... whatever. This ammounts to a covert or overt coup against Syria. Coups are bad for countries for the most part and a coup would not be quite as accepted by Syria. Knowing the US would have a hand in it, I am sure most Syrians are aware of the propaganda the US military and the US government that is taking place. Also this was not Bush's plan. This plan has been in the works for a couple decades now. To think this new vision all of a sudden came from Bush himself is naive and not looking at the bigger picture. The US wants to transform the Middle East to something a little more US friendly. Afghanistan is proof. Iraq is proof. It is not about bringing freedom to Iraqis or Iranians or even Syrians. Change comes from within, not without. Quote

PolyNewbie Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Jerry Seinfeld: but did anyone hear about the New York Times reporting on some classified US proposal to undermine and subvert the Syrian Dictatorship? Jerry, the USA never ever interferes with dictatorships. It only overthrows governments that work for the people to replace them with disctatorships and fake "democracies" with puppet governments. Don't you ever wonder why these evil disctators like Hussein, Chevez, Castro etc can stand in front of a big crowd of people with guns with no fear of being shot yet our leaders have men in black around them everywhere with strict security ? Did you know that in these evel dictatorships people get fee education and better medical care than we do ? Do you think getting to vote means democracy when both parties in the USA and all four out of five main parties in Canada are controlled by private central bankers that print our money for nothing, lend it at face value and use profits to control our society in every way from media to publishing to education and medacine through focus groups, tax free foundations and think tanks ? TV was the greatest weapon of mass destruction ever created. It has allowed our rulers to rule our society with thought control and control of education rather than pointing guns at us. Well you got one thing right: In democracies the governments fear the people - in dictatorships the people fear the governments Other than that I only have one response to your post: BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA Quote
Fortunata Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 I think the US has done too much undermining and subverting in it's history. Quote
