rbacon
The new Prime Minister of Alberta is wasting no time....Alberta seems to be copying Quebec....Hopefully he will fund the Employment dept out of the Federally corrupt U/I program....If he withdraws Alberta from the Federal program and puts Alberta workers money into the new Alberta Employment Dept...That would be a bonus for all Albertan's......The Immigration idea is a good one as well..... Alberta leaving EI would potentially topple the program completely. Alberta is the least unemployed province, so obviously we're paying more in (plus we earn considerably more per capita) then the others per capita. We might only be 10% of the population, but we fund closer to 14% of the federation. This would considerably reduce that number as EI is a huge hidden aspect of equalisation payments (it comes from Alberta and goes to Newfie fishermen that work 6 months then hit their EI vacations). Fantastic Ed. Let's leave EI and CPP. It'd be great for Alberta, and might force the rest of Canada to modernize and perhaps join the rest of the world in terms of taxation and pro-business policies so they can make some jobs.
