22,000 Canadians of Japanese descent interned - stripped of their money, their rights and their homes - in prisoner of war camps during WW2.

Don't forget the POW's held by the Japanese either.

They had their own POW camps.

Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns.

These weren't Japanese people, these were Canadians. I don't know if November 11th is to recognise these victims as it's a day for the vets, but they do need to be recognised as well.

I'll put it on my calander once the feds give us a date, right beside Gay Day and whatever else. In the meantime, let's take this day and honor our vets and reflect on the horrors of war and the necessity to have the courage to nip it in the bud before it reaches horrific proportions where acts such as the above create the fear to take actions like that.

Why do so many leftists feel compelled to pollute the memory of those that served oiur respective countries with tangential observances?

As for the Japanese internments were any of us there? Do we know if it was a naked land/power grab or if there was something to the military's fears? My own pet view is that immigrant groups that do not integrate into the population, but form self-adhering enclaves invite suspicion of disloyalty or worse. If the Japanese came to Canada it should have been to become Canadians, not to be Japanese North.

  • The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

^^Kind of like modern day Vancouver....or Hongcouver (Spoken from a person that lived there for years).

I once was chatting with this guy about Vancouver. He lived there for 5 years and said he would never go back. Of all the cities in this country, Vancouver was by far the most segregated in terms of people culture and the lack of integration.

Remembrance Day is for soldiers who had fought and are fighting for us. It is also to remember that had it not been for them, we would not be having the kind of life we now have.

When we look at the world, we realize how only a few nations are truly blessed living the way of life we now enjoy: appreciate it and be thankful. Preserve it and protect it.

So many had died for it.

Lest we forget.

Japanese Americans that served in the military in Europe after volunteering out of internment camps were one of the most decorated units of the war.

Do you live in a self serving enclave of similar people? Is your loyalty to America?

That's how multiculturalism works. It's based on segregation and tension. It's a horrible method of doing things.
