normanchateau Posted November 10, 2006 Author Report Posted November 10, 2006 As someone has already pointed out the deal is exactly the same as the deal that was pending under the Liberals.Yet the cons think it was their idea Yeah, Emerson convinced the Liberals to turn it down but for some reason Harper thought it was a good idea. Today, thanks to Harper, the softwood lumber industry pays a 15% export tax yet even the US only imposed a duty of 10.8%. Another brilliant economic move on Harper's part. Quote
southerncomfort Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 The money will be collected by Ottawa and funnelled back to the lumber producing provinces. Without agreement, the latest U.S. Department of Commerce administrative review of the duties would have raised combined duties to around 14.7 per cent. hmmm I'd rather have a credible fully competent Harper as PM than the dithering incompetent Paul Martin, and that crook Chretien. It makes the best of a bad situation IMHO, but ole normie wouldn't like anything the CPC did anyway - wonder if something happened during childhood to give him an unfounded fear of Harper. Maybe somebody whispered booga booga stories in his ear when he was youn. Quote

Well done, southerncomfort. It's good to practice cleverly attacking the old Liberal leaders in order to get in shape for the forthcoming attack on the new one. I especially like the part about Harper being credible. He's as credible as Darrel Reid. Quote

Guess small-minded loathing with no consideration or openness to discussion can only focus it's venom on two people at a time Quote Dion is a verbose, mild-mannered academic with a shaky grasp of English who seems unfit to chair a university department, much less lead a country. Sorry about that. I suppose I would be unhappy too if my task were to try to convince others why they should vote for the wonderful Mr. Harper. Quote

If my only purpose in life were to vent hatred about a poltiical figure and political aide on a message board .... maybe. I do post on other things here normie. Take a look sometime. I sure didn't figure out the hate-on-for-Grewal replacement - good catch. Talk about pot - kettle - black thing; nc chastises southerncomfort for 'cleverly atacking old liberal leaders' when he slides all kinds of drive by smears in about Harper on a regular basis. I suppose I would be unhappy too if my task were to try to convince others why they should vote for the wonderful Mr. Harper. If my only purpose in life were to vent hatred about a poltiical figure and political aide on a message board .... maybe. I've been away from this board since January or so and just returned a couple of weeks ago. But yes, it would be sad indeed if that were someone's only purpose in life. I assume the aide you are referring to is Darrel Reid. Am I correct that whenever I bring up this person's name, supporters of Mr. Harper personally attack me rather than praise the virtues of Mr. Reid? Perhaps it's my imagination. Quote
