hiti Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Those not drinking kool-aid know this. -------------------------------------- Tony Blair faced a devastating attack yesterday as one of his most trusted military commanders described Britain's mission in southern Afghanistan as 'cuckoo'. General Lord Guthrie, former head of the UK armed forces and a close confidante of the Prime Minister, poured scorn on his recent pledge to give army chiefs in Afghanistan 'anything' they needed. He said that Britain is, in truth, "reaping the whirlwind" from cutting the armed forces to the bone following the Cold War. He pointed out the foolishness of going into Afghanistan with such few numbers given the country's inhospitable terrain and the fearsome history of its warrior people. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 Quote "You cannot bring your Western standards to Afghanistan and expect them to work. This is a different society and a different culture." -Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan June 23/07
hiti Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 Downing Street is still reeling from the devastating impact of General Sir Richard Dannatt's recent stark comments warning that British forces are making security problems in Iraq worse and should leave the country 'soon.' The latest blow is likely to be felt even more keenly coming from Lord Guthrie, a commander who forged such a close friendship with Tony Blair during his time in office that he was dubbed a "crony general" and heavily criticised for politicising his job through his staunch defence of Labour policy. Allow a minority to take over the entire country then send in our children to fight a better entrenched and better organized group of Jihadists later. Quote We're Paratroopers Lieutenant. White Doors Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 The afghan mission is supported by the UN, Nato and any sensibly thinking person. Only a person with a self-obsessed, provincial mind-set can think that the Afghan war is bad. Peace IS NOT the absence of war. Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~

The United States is spending 25% less on this conflict than they did in Bosnia. They expect to win the peace with that lack of commitment? NATO isn't really interested in fighting this battle and the enemy hides behind Pakistan. Canada is being left to fend out on the front. Quote
