I was surprised by such a transparent attempt to escape responsibility. Nasrullah was well aware of Israeli policies and very well aware of Israel's response to the kidnapping in Gaza just weeks before. He had to know what the potential response could be. Did he think Hezbollah could manage the IDF and defeat them while terrifying Israelis with Katyushas? Or did he think he could draw Syria and Iran directly into the battle? If he was coach of the Vancouver Canucks I would expect to see him gone ASAP. Quote

Too bad so sad. Well, maybe Israel didn't lose war after all. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Too bad so sad. Well, maybe Israel didn't lose war after all. They certainly didn't win. How many Hezbollah officials killed... oh ya... umm.. zero!!! A few miliants killed from a thousand dead (on both sides) is hardly a victory. If I were Israeli, I'd be pretty pissed at both sides no doubt, at Hezbollah for being arrogant and frivilous with lives (and being terrorists to begin with) and with my leaders for destroying our moral advantage. You are one of the few people who understand that Israel has a moral advantage. Myself, they didn't destroy it, they just didn't allow terrorists to hide behind civillians for a change. Black Dog Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Uh..you all know what he's doing here, right? Remember, when the ceasefire started and people were predicting that the Lebanese people would turn against Hizbullah for starting the fight? Well, this is damage control. He's laying the ground work for a stronger Hizbullah, one that is integrated even deeper into Lebanese politics. Which, I'm sure, is exactly what folks like Krusty Kidd wanted, right? In meantime Nasrallah is not only acting contrite for the home crowd, he's setting up Israel to take the blame for the next conflict: "The open war with Israel ended on August 14, but Israel is continuing its acts of provocations to drag us into the confrontation," he said. "If we respond to the provocations, we'll be considered the party that violated the international agreement, something which might cause a meeting around a second decision, which President Bush is working for and which is tied to the disarmament of Hezbollah. Taken from an Israeli standpoint it's about time. Of course Israel has a moral advantage, but it's not a untouchable one. Their actions in the past have preserved that, but the civilian death toll in their recent 'anti-terrorism' operation... one that was completely unsuccessful in doing anything but make Hezbollah stronger... is a huge blow to such an advantage.
