jdobbin Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14095881/ The discovery of high quality oil and gas off of Cuba has finally made American businesses question the embargo of Cuba. Quote
geoffrey Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Never made much sense to begin with. I do feel for the American landowners that got screwed by Castro, but hey, the embargo isn't getting their land back. So I think we should just steal their oil (directional drill it, if possible) and call it even. Seriously. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

I doubt the U.S. would directional drill into Cuban territory because it sets a precedent for other countries to do the same to the U.S. Quote

I hope Cuba tells American business to piss up a rope. "No, you cannot have our oil." No you cannot purchase our oil!" Reminds me of the story of the little hen... The hen wants to plant some some wheat. "Won't someone help me till the soil?" asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen tills the soil herself. "Won't someone help me plant the seeds?" asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen plants the seeds herself. "Won't someone help me water the seeds? asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen waters the seeds herself and watches her little crop grow. Won't someone help me harvest the wheat? asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen harvests the wheat herself. "Won't someone help me grind the wheat? asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen grinds the wheat herself. "Won't someone help me bake the bread?" asks the hen "Not I" says the cat "Not I" says the dog "Not I" says the cow So the hen bakes the bread herself. "Won't someone help me eat the bread?" asks the hen "I will!" says the cat "I will!" says the dog "I will!" says the cow "No you won't!" says the hen And the hen and her baby chicks enjoyed the fresh bread themselves. I think the U.S. has already made an exemption for a new drug that Cuba has developed. Funny, how when it suits American business, they want access to Cuban markets. Since this comes just 4 months before an election, I think that Bush will stay quiet. However, by that time, rights to the oil fields will already be decided. And since under that law, the oil can't go to the United States, contracts will be signed with other nations to receive that oil. Quote

American business (and government) have an attitude of "it's MINE, gimme gimme gimme!" Gawd I'll be glad when Cuba announces that it's selling the oil and none of it goes to America. Serves 'em right. Never made much sense to begin with. I do feel for the American landowners that got screwed by Castro, but hey, the embargo isn't getting their land back. I do feel for the Native Canadians in Alberta that got screwed by the white man, but hey, they are never getting their land back. So I think native Canadians should just steal their oil and call it even. Seriously. Quote ...jealous much? Booga Booga! Hee Hee Hee

Anyways, Drea. Cuba took American held land violently, the Indians just ceded their land. We had no wars of conquest over the Indians. They signed most of it away, hence 'treaties'. GostHacked Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 So people in the US will now be able to smoke Cubans? Not a bad idea. I find this hypocritical of the US and clearly this shows where their priorities are. Cuba was not much of an Interest in the US untill all of a sudden oil is discovered. Castro has managed to stay in office, while other US presidents have long gone. Wow what a win win situation for the US. Cuba finding oil and Castro kicking the bucket. Then you have the US doing a major propaganda campaing favouring a New Cuba. Other than oil, the US has basicly told Cuba to piss up a rope. Quote
