User Posted April 25 Report Posted April 25 In concept, I actually do support these laws, but in practice, I have yet to see any of them that have the right safeguards or protections in place. This happened to someone with some notoriety. What do you think happens to the little people who don't have access to fancy lawyers and $$$ to defend themselves? The basics of this story are that some clown who threatened James on hidden camera then turned around and got a domestic violence stalking order of protection against James because some of the people who seen the video responded to him harassing him and threatening him... Just absurd. Fortunately, another Judge quickly overturned this, but to have to go through this in the first place, to be subjected to an order a week ago to inventory all of your firearms and declare them to the court so the court can then turn around and order them removed? gatomontes99 Posted April 25 Report Posted April 25 I have been looking for the full story on this. I saw the X posts a few days ago. We talk about freedom not being free. Yes, we could put trackers on everyone, watch every penny they spend and predict when they are moving towards law breaking and then arrest them even before they break the law. That could stop murders cold. But what kind of life is that? What kind of life is it to have every movement monitored, every action scrutinized, and punishment for crimes you did not commit? Freedom means people will make horrifically bad choices. Freedom means innocent people will have to deal with the consequences of those bad choices. Dealing with the bad choices of some is a far smaller price than the tyranny of certainty. With the tyranny of certainty, we all pay for the bad choices of some. With the thranny of certainty, everyone is punished for the actions of a few. 1 Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

You don't understand statistics. ‘statistics’ are not ‘facts’ Facts are independent of interpretation, they are constant, ‘the earth orbits the sun’? Statistics are subject to interpretation, sampling methods (questionnaire), and the context – they can be presented in misleading ways. Edited April 27 by John Stone Quote

That you can then go on to interpret them…. Quote
