Post-Communist MP mocks historic words of John Paul II

The League of Polish Families (LPR) is to file a motion with the Parliamentary Ethics Committee for disciplinary action against MP Joanna Senyszyn from the post-Communist Democratic Left Alliance. On Saturday, during the Gay Pride parade in Warsaw Senyszyn stated to the gathered: ‘May this parade change the face of the land, this land’. In the opinion of the LPR leadership this is clear mockery of the historic words of John Paul II in a homily to his compatriots during the late Pope’s first pilgrimage to then Communist ruled Poland in 1979.

This is not the first time that John Paul II has been mocked. He has been mocked in much more disrespectful manners before.

Those who love the late Pope should not be affected by this added mockery in the least.

Those who hate the late Pope will never have enough ammunition to tarnish him in the least.

Nevertheless, the statement is actually correct. The gay parade will likely change the face of Poland as previous parades have done elsewhere in the world. Homosexuality is not confined to any one nation or race. The sooner everybody gets over it, the better.

When I was a kid the Roamn Catholic Church was above all this stuff. If the local Baptist minister made some nasty comment about the Vatican it was just shrugged off - like someone using a peashooter against a tank. Today skins seems to be thinner. Usually quoting someone is a sign of flattery.

The irony is, as you have said, that gays really are changing "the face of the land". When I was a kid gays couldn't get jobs, got kicked out of college, couldn't rent apartments. Now they can get married to one another!
