paxamericana Posted October 19, 2025 Report Posted October 19, 2025 The North American continent is inhabited by one group of culturally linked people who share common language, identity, ethnicity and religion. Yet through an imaginary line drawn on the map, people living north are somehow not Americans. There’s no logical basis for this distinction and therefore can only be classified as a form of mental illness. Quote
SpankyMcFarland Posted October 19, 2025 Report Posted October 19, 2025 Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness versus peace, order and good government. I see some big differences in values there and I feel them in the people too. America is struggling to maintain its liberal democratic order at the moment. It has a sclerotic two party system unable to reform itself, clearly inferior to the British model and riddled with gerrymandering. The last thing it needs is a doubling in size. Canada has been slipping away from it's democratic values ever since free speech became legally hate speech. Not to derail my own thread. Democracy only seems to matter when the party of not your choice is in power for some reason. Edited October 19, 2025 by paxamericana Quote

At the moment xenophobia is entirely justifiable given your country’s disgraceful actions against its closest friend. You just don’t get how we feel right now. We’re putting Canada on time out until you rethink this non-American identity you fabricated for yourselves and petition for statehood. Quote You just don’t get how we feel right now. We do, we just don't care. American isolationism is entirely an American luxury, we're self sufficient or powerful enough to get what we want and have things our way. Quote xenophobia is entirely justifiable Yes we're quite aware of Canadian bigoted tendency, it's a national sport. You elected a PM whose winning premise was about being a better bigot than the next guy. Edited October 23, 2025 by paxamericana Quote
