myata Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 From the history we know very well: these matters are very, very grave. They cannot be shrugged off because it'll somehow take care of itself. Smiling Barak trading wise jokes (we know how well they worked with Vlad, 2009 - 2024) will not get kudos from me on that. America is ill, seriously, and there are no quick and easy cures. History tells us that if unchecked they will progress, and they can progress to the worst outcomes. The earlier they are stopped and halted the higher the chance of recovery will be. No joking matter. In fact, a matter of survival of the democracy. The sane America has to leave behind differences, doom and gloom there will be the time for reflection after this problem at hand is dealt with. And it will need to focus on one clear strategy: stop the corruption here. Cannot give any more points, and scraps of democracy and constitution to the fascist chaos that's rising. It has to be a non-partisan all-country mass civic movement of the kind of 1960 that can first defend and retain democracy; and then, become the basis for its necessary renewal that's been long overdue. Every individual and every choice will matter now. It's a matter to think about and decide for every individual who can claim reason, integrity and responsibility before generations. Not only in America: in the world. 1 Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant

Linked below is a very interesting video (about 9 minutes long) entitled the Ten Tactics of Fascism, narrated by Yale University Professor Jason Stanley, whose most recent book is “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them.” Trump is never mentioned, but he fits the definition of a fascist. The video begins with this quote: Fascism is a cult of the leader who promises national restoration in the face of supposed humiliation by immigrants, leftists, liberals, minorities, homosexuals and women … in the face of what the fascist leader says is a takeover of the country’s media, cultural institutions, and school by these forces … And that’s why you need a really macho, powerful, violent response… And, only the fascist leader can solve the problems, in the same way that Trump has repeated, “I alone can fix it.” The video touches upon other indicators of fascism, such as a mythic past of greatness, propaganda based on friends and enemies, the leader setting rules about what’s true or false (and people get used to the lies), a hierarchy of worth, equality granted to other groups makes the dominant group into victims, and law and order structures decide who is legitimate and who is not. The video ends with this quote: Honest conservatives are lured into fascism by people who tell them, “Look, it’s an existential fight. I know you don’t like everything we do. You don’t accept every doctrine, but your family is under threat. Your family is at risk. So, without us, you are in peril.” Quote
myata Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 The first time, the ignorance defense could have been claimed. This time around, in the view of the history every single one is walking into it with eyes wide open. No escapes, zero justifications nil excuses. Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
