Biblio Bibuli Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 Something BB forgets is that Presto has never been a provincial Conservative. Name recognition or not, it remains to be seen how the province's Tory rank and file would regard a bid for leadership from an outsider. Something BD fogets is that Yodeler was RIGHT ON THE MONEY when he wrote a letter to the editor back on 27/06/00, stating ... "Today, there are Canadian politicians who are very successful heads of their provincial governments, thanks to Mr. Manning's ideas." Deborah Gray obviously knows Yodeler very well, for how else would she say in today's Vancouver Sun ... "Manning's mantra as Reform leader struck a chord in Alberta in 1993. Other governments across the country eventually followed suit." ?? Hmm? Even the Reform movement sputtered out: it took a Toronto-born and raised backroom type to lead it out of the wilderness. The Alberta Tories have been sputtering along sans ideas for some time now. Exhuming the mouldering corpse of "Refoooooorm" won't change that. Quote
shoop Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Dinning has been running pretty hard for a long time. When Manning enters it will be a race to see who can sell more memberships. Manning in the race guarantees a couple things. It won't be a coronation and it will be a two-horse race. It will quickly become Manning vs. Dinning. Norris will probably end up third on the first ballot as the token Edmonton candidate. Last time around it looked like Betkowski was going to win in a walk, but Ralph put in the effor to get it done. And every one that did was a failure. READ IT AND WEEP!!!http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...PStory/National I read it. The real question is: did you? I said: it remains to be seen how the province's Tory rank and file would regard a bid for leadership from an outsider. Along comes the Globe which tells me: Preston Manning is moving to unearth support among Alberta's federal Tory MPs for his possible run to replace Ralph Klein Which doesn't really undermine my point. What's more, I find the notion of a federal party trying to determine the outcome of an unaffiliated provincial party's leadership contest to be most unseemly. Quote
Biblio Bibuli Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I read it. The real question is: did you? All I wanted was to show Black Dog that Preston has got it in the bag. shoop Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 That committee is pretty shy on people representing rural Alberta. Airdrie and Spruce Grove are basically just burbs of Calgary and Edmonton respetively. Quote
