newbie Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Bush today: "First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don't think we ever said -- at least I know I didn't say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein." Really? Well three years earlier he said: "The use of armed forces against Iraq is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001." [President George W. Bush, Letter to Congress, 3/21/03 Was he lying then or now? Quote
geoffrey Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Well we do know that Saddam did contribute money to Hamas and to suicide bombers and their families (essientially bribing destitutes to kill themselves, take Israelis and Westerns with them, in order to help their family), which is a terrorist organization, one thats killed Americans. So yes, Saddam did pay terrorists to kill Americans. Pretty obvious to me. newbie Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 So he was lying yesterday then. Thanks for clearing that up. Quote
Shakeyhands Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 haha... Now don't go getting all of our Bush apologists going now... Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
GostHacked Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks for posting that newbie!! http://movies.crooksandliars.com/Countdown-Bush-9-11.wmv So was he lying then? Or lying now? All that he needs now is a cuban cigar and an intern. FLIP FLOPPIN LIKE KERRY!!!! This is your CIC!!! And I do not think within his speeches he directly linked the two. For example : "Terrorists flew planes into the WTC. Saddam harbours terrorists." So no direct link, we should all take a look at those speeches again. I think you will find the above more or less. But it is the way the speech was written to give that false impression in eveyones mind that Saddam DID have something to do with 9/11. Watch out for those speech writers, they are smarter than Bush. I told you the left was not the only people who use that tactic. Not once do I see 'U.S.' or America or American in that article. This article can be disregarded. Unless the 'Americas' hyperlink at the bottom is what you are looking at. Saddam may have supported terrorism, but none seemed to be aimed at the US, and Saddam again ONCE again, had nothing to do with 9/11. Quote
geoffrey Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 haha... Now don't go getting all of our Bush apologists going now... I ain't no Bush apolg'st! I'm just saying since the left fights Bush on little technicalities, then you've got to check out your own. Notice how I didn't draw a connection between 9/11 and Saddam, nor did Bush in that second quote posted... he just mentioned the event in the same paragraph. If that's all you've got, then Bush isn't lying. Is he being unreasonably clever with words? Absolutely. Saddam + Terrorists = Absolutely. Saddam + 9/11 = Some minor remote evidence, unlikely. I'm neutral on US politics by the way, actually really am not a Bush apologist, I wouldn't support him at all. By the same token, he's the best the US can get right now, the Democrats are a complete write-off. So that's where I sit, completely neutral non-partisan with US politics. If your trying to corner me on some partisan idea, its not going to work, because I don't support any of them at all. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
