Cut out unnecessary elections - 250 million Make Cabinet Ministers take the bus (part of Harper's environmental scheme is to offer bus pass rebates so this would be a twofold savings) - 300,000.00 plus rebate. Fire all of Harper's PR staff and use bubble gum cards. He could print his statements on the back and the other side of his face on the front. This way, not only would we save money but would also generate income from the sales. (That is if anyone would really pay for it) Charge a surtax for every stupid thing members of his caucus have to say. Kazillions of dollars in revenue. Quote
geoffrey Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Nocrap... say something useful or get lost, seriously its just an annoyance. Anyways Sam... A bit of a comment. Your doctors only cost $1000 a year?? Pretty cheap doctors. The average cost for a doctor, once you add in his office fees, support staff and the medical supplies for him to do his job, ect., is closer to $750,000. Your 5,000 new docs would end up costing closer to $3.75 billion. You've also got hospitals budgeted at $2 million a piece... closer to $250 million to $600 million depending on size/specialties/ect... so your 50 hospitals would be closer to $12.5 billion. Now do you see why our health care system is unsustainable? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
lost&outofcontrol Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I think you underestimated your figures a bit. The ottawa hospital has an operating budget of $500 million per year. Spending $5 000 000 on 15 000 new military personnel equals to $333 per person. Quote
geoffrey Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I was talking construction, not operations. Add those figured in there too! Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
lost&outofcontrol Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I was talking construction, not operations. Add those figured in there too! yeah that's what I figured, I was replying to Sam. I don't think Sam though things through, he's contradicting himself. One place you say you will eliminate the gst and at the bottom you you you'll bring it back. I don't mean any disrespect Sam. I agree that everyone should be working, but wouldn't raising minimum wage make it harder for them to find a job? The first thing employers do when minimum wage is raised is to stop hiring people, even when they're shortstaffed. The only exception would be if you live in Alberta, the starting rate there for McDonalds is above the minimum wage you suggest. Quote

How about we tax the Liberal Party at 10,000% on every dollar they pilfered from us? I think that would cover everything.
