myata
Western societies have entered the phase of a structural, foundational crisis and they just couldn't find the way out of it. A change of paradigm; reinvention of democracy; renewed social contract of participation and prosperity are all needed desperately but tired and self-absorbed liberal elites just cannot produce anything new; in the short - minuscule in the historical terms period of relative peace and prosperity, Western societies have grown lazy and self-centered, deep into the mentality of indulgence and entitlement. They all but forgot that maintaining democracy is the responsibility of the citizens: it is not a given and no free gift, neither an eternal engine of consumption and prosperity. Not great. In the meanwhile, the dictators were watching from the shadows. They have perfected the instruments of control and suppression. Iran, Russia, North Korea: they can really rule forever now; with no chance of returning to freedom. And these days, it is coming to the fore: the West, weakened from inside, and divided. And the dictators, certain and determined to not repeat the mistakes of the past, stay united and go straight for a rematch. The opposite of the setting in the last century; and even back then it wasn't a given; it was close; and took enormous toll to prevail. So what will it be? How will it turn out this time? Remember: no promises were given. No such guarantees. Edited June 23 by myata 1 Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
