robosmith Posted April 29, 2024 Report Posted April 29, 2024 Trump Deflates Quote On aid to Ukraine, Trump got his way for 16 months. When Democrats held the majority in the House of Representatives in 2022, they approved four separate aid requests for Ukraine, totaling $74 billion. As soon as Trump’s party took control of the House, in January 2023, the aid stopped. Every Republican officeholder understood: Those who wished to show loyalty to Trump must side against Ukraine. At the beginning of this year, Trump was able even to blow up the toughest immigration bill seen in decades—simply to deny President Joe Biden a bipartisan win. Individual Senate Republicans might grumble, but with Trump opposed, the border-security deal disintegrated. Three months later, Trump’s party in Congress has rebelled against him—and not on a personal payoff to some oddball Trump loyalist, but on one of Trump’s most cherished issues, his siding with Russia against Ukraine. Only reason it got passed is when it became clear that blocking Ukraine aid was a political LOSER for Donald "blame me" Trump. 🤮 Quote
User Posted April 29, 2024 Report Posted April 29, 2024 This same bad argument has been hashed out here already. It is no secret as to what changed... its that Biden has allowed our border to become a crisis and refuses to enforce our laws. Republicans were quite clear back in early 2023 that their support for more funding for Ukraine was contingent on more support for Border controls in our own country. Quote

And it became QUITE CLEAR that Trump trashed the BIPARTISAN Senate border bill and said to BLAME HIM for that. Quote

It was a bad bill that normalized massive illegal immigration rates and did nothing to actually secure the border. It had to be killed. Were you not in the other thread on this subject? Oh yeah, you were! So, why are you repeating the same arguments already had before? Since you seem to have forgotten what I said previously: And here was the last comment in that thread you never responded to: Quote

Your "dream" bill had no chance of passing. 12 minutes ago, User said: Were you not in the other thread on this subject? Oh yeah, you were! I always forget DRIVEL. Which Republicans said that? How many? The Bill you are touting had no chance of passing either. Yes, you have a real habit now of running away from discussions when the questions get too difficult and the arguments too inconvenient for you. Quote
