The movie Airplane! was made in 1980. The first Naked Gun movie in 1988. These various movies were written by the same people.

John Cleese once claimed that Americans don't understand irony. OJ Simpson and Leslie Neilsen are both now dead. RIP. But in their own way, they taught various Americans irony.

In these 2020s I miss the freedom of the past. But then, how would a slave-owner remember the 1840s.

Abroad recently, I explained that Montreal is now a rare city in the western world: unilingual people live together. I explained the term allophone, how Bruxelles is similar but different.

The Brit asked about Norm Macdonald - from Montreal. No, I corrected. He was from Quebec City. And btw, his brother was a good, ascerbic writer for the CBC.

Then I noted that Canadians know Leslie Nielsen, but for us, we also know his brother as the deputy PM. Whatever.
