Theres nothing wrong with post-secondary. The imposed restrictions on medicial graduates is not provincial jursidication, I believe it comes from the College of Physicans or whatever its called.

The University of Alberta, due to slashed funding, has been replacing less than half of its faculty as they retire or move on. That has no effect at all on admissions or number of graduates, I suppose.

Personally I think it is a good thing that at least one Province has the financial clout to violate the Canada Health Act. It's high time someone did, it's the only way we have a chance of seeing some real innovation in the way health care is delivered. Everyone else is too busy defending their sacred cows instead of really looking after the system.

The fact is, the Act has been violated for years and only the left denies it.

Martin uses a private clinic.

Layton got private surgery, then claimed the clinic wasn't private. Of course, it has "a swimming pool, a recreational centre, a fine restaurant," etc. just like all hospitals, right???

Ironically, only Harper (you know the extreme right-wing guy who has put Canada up for the bidding) has NEVER used private care. I am just waiting to see whether he will admit the system is flawed and allow more private care (which is clearly the right thing to do) or follow what the Libs and NDP (who don't care for the system but need the issue to carry their left-wing bases) do on it...
