The Liberals have really done it this time. They have blown 2.2 billion dollars letting bureacrats take vacations to Cancun, Casablanca, and other tropical resorts. This is just another example of the Liberal Culture of entitlement. http://www.zippyvideos.com/1956616943264756/relocationhi/

I think everyone should see this. Here is another link

"No I wouldn't vote for them anyways" sounds like a good choice.

The diplomat, Glyn Berry, who was killed recently in Afghanistan had to get to Kandahar from his previous posting. He was "relocated". I don't know what his previous posting was, or what route he took to get to Afghanistan, but I doubt there was a direct flight - and it's very likely he had to spend a night somewhere enroute.

Since his air ticket was probably full-fare economy (so that last minute changes are easy to make), the airline probably gave him an upgrade to Business Class or even First Class. (For long flights, diplomats are entitled to fly Business Class anyway.) This meant the stopover would be at the airline's expense in a five-star hotel.

For diplomats posted to South America, I can easily imagine that they would arrange a flight connecting through Cancun for relocation. They have broken no law or rule. Keep in mind that airlines like government business and so they frequently offer perks like nice hotels for layovers.

You can devise rules to restrict these kinds of expenditures but when it comes to "other's people money", there will always be legitimate ways around the rules because of "special cases". Frequently, the additional rules will cost more to implement/enforce than the supposed savings.

-----

While driving in Montreal today, a Montreal municipal parking ticket cop drove by me in a red GM Aveo. I realized that small governments can't spend money like big governments. (Imagine the relocation costs in an organization like the UN.)

The solution is not more rules. The solution is fewer civil servants in Ottawa.

There's a lack of options on the poll questipn.

Who cares who I vote for? They are all essentially the same thing. Corruptable by power. If you think there won't be Conservative scandals and corruption when they are in power, then you living in as much a fairy tale world as NDP supporters expecting a landslide Layton majority.

You need an option reflecting that general idea.

You walk around with the same bias everyone has about political parties. Not all parties were corrupt if you read history of PM's in Canada. THis is why young people are turned off from voting becasue people liek you tell their children that all parties are corrupt and greedy.

Actually the reason a lot of people, not just the young, are turned off by the political process is that we see again and again how good people are either subverted by power or are shouldered aside by people who have been subverted by power. There is no point in suggesting that there have been good governments. More positively the political hacks on here might promise that they will renege on their party allegiance if the party that gets elected turns out to have been seriously corrupted.

That way in four or max six elections we wouldn't have to put up with the constant biased blather and could concentrate on electing good people to positions of serious authority and feel somewhat more confident that what is going to happen will be for Canadas benefit.

I am no troll. I am a NDPer but this is orignally from a Tory website. I think its source isn't important just the facts presented. This is all true I checked it out at public works. Here is the link http://www.hcrd.gts.gc.ca/international-e.htm. I am not making this up. You shouldn't throw accusations around like that.

Wow, that sounds a little like a US democrat.
