Poilievre releases 'housing hell' mini-documentary, testing new ground in political communication. Very different - very effective.

Sure - justin trudeau is terrible blah blah - we all know that.  The interesting thing here is how Pierre has done this and how it's being reacted to around the internet and water coolers.

This isn't exactly the FIRST time that political candidates have done a 'documentary' type video to sell their brand, and not the first time we've seen youtube and twitter releases etc.

But - this is getting to be a seriously polished phenomenon.  He's taking it to new levels and it's working,. People are eating this up.  this sort of simple video is getting watched a HELL of a lot and it's a fascinating new trend in political adverts.

You can tell they're working to perfect this. They are looking at which models work best, what people will watch and how long, where to release it.  And youtube is free so come the election this is very very low cost advertising for them.

They are getting scary good at this and it's very very effective.

it will be very interesting to see if the libs can counter this for the next election or not, and how much of a role this will play.  Interesting thing - if they produce and put the videos up before the election starts - and THEN promote the hell out of them on social media after the election starts, with youtube being free i believe they could get tonnes of highly effective advertising blasted all over the internet without it counting towards their election spending.  Going to be interesting to watch.

Poilievre video blaming Trudeau for Canada’s housing crisis takes off online

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has released a 15-minute video blaming the prime minister and his policies for Canada’s housing crisis. The video has garnered more than a million views since its weekend release, as a new poll suggests the Conservatives are now leading the Liberals by almost 20 points.

Wow.  Political parties have been trying to harness social media for quite some time but PP seems to have figured it out.

There's only about 16 million voters in canada. And it's between elections and people are thinking about other things. And he's still over a million view.  That's unbelievable messaging.

Trudeau knows if a snap election happened now, the conservatives would win it in a landslide.

Videos like that one, just show its night and day regarding competence levels.

Trudeau is like a trained gymnast, trying to do engineering. There is just no bending he could do, to get out of his mess.

Well, technically he could bend to the pressure, and exit.

I don' think he feels the pressure much. Early on he surrounded himself with ultra-loyalists and they keep the other liberals in line, it's hard to speak out against him. And they can't FORCE him out, they don't have provisions like the CPC does for that kind of thing.

The liberals have always stated as one of their guiding principles that you do ANYTHING to stay in power as long as you can - you never know what will change.  The first trudeau was the exception that proved the rule.  I think he's bought into that and he's waiting to see if a) trump wins and b) polievre scews up and c) the economy crashes and interest rates come down a bit.

If those three things happen then maybe somehow he might have a chance but if he gives up now there's zero chance
