August1991 Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 As head of the Council of the Federation, Ralph Klein asked five questions of the federal leaders. (Read here.) The questions concerned: fiscal imbalance, post-secondary education, international role of provinces, WTO, transportation policy Le Devoir has published a summary of Duceppe's response in which he largely agrees with Klein. (Duceppe wants to defend supply management with regard to the WTO, and believes in provincial jurisdiction of transport policy, citing Mirabel as an example of federal incompetence. From the Toronto Star article above: Harper told reporters in Quebec City that while he hadn't read the missive in detail, he had been briefed on its contents."It seems to me that those demands are generally, obviously, close to the program of the Conservative party. We're generally on the same page," the Tory leader said, adding he will deliver a formal response in the coming days. I don't know if the other leaders have responded or not. Quote
crazymf Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 I like Duceppe. He's pretty good for a Frenchman. Quote The trouble with the legal profession is that 98% of its members give the rest a bad name. Don't be humble - you're not that great. Golda Meir
shoop Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 I think Duceppe will work quite well with PM Harper. Quite interesting how this election is going against the Liberals. Their cry of *scary* *scary* *scary* are going to be replaced by "Harper is going to work with the separatists." Get the point Liberals. Canadians will want the next minority parliament ot function. They would rather have Harper work with Duceppe than have Martin work with nobody. Buh bye PM PM. Good work avenging your father. I like Duceppe. He's pretty good for a Frenchman. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote
