August1991 Posted May 13, 2023 Report Posted May 13, 2023 (edited) According to imdb, this movie was released in 1988. I recall first seeing it in a cinema in London UK - but maybe it was in Canada. Certainly around that time. John Cleese has said that he is most proud of this script, work. (I've wondered how various people look back on life: Ramses II put his hieroglyphe/capsule everywhere. Keeanu Reeves reminded of this when he said that we die twice: "First when we die. Second when no one speaks of us." ) Aside from the script, the casting: Kevin Klein. Such a good actor - an empty vessel - in this role. "I have skirts with a higher IQ.." I dislike the British -northern English in particular. They are cold, curt. But the English language is a delight. It was around this time -the late 1980s- that I met a couple in a pub in London. Typical cold British snobs, I first thought, but then he was open and hilarious. Until I learned that he was from South Africa. Irony. The laugh was on me. This movie is a delight.
