Of course, the first Catholic US president was Kennedy. Biden is the second - practicing or not. We Canadians have had many federal Catholic prime ministers: Clark, Turner, Mulroney. ===== Apparently, Oprah Winfrey paid for Obama's campaign in 2008. And apparently she said to him, "Don't screw this up." In Laurier's cabinet of 1896, he was the only Catholic minister, the only francophone and the only MP from Quebec. Clifford Sifton sat beside Laurier. === Obama was no Trudeau. Obama was like Laurier. Trudeau said: "I want to put my people in their place. And their place is in Canada."
