WestCanMan Posted May 1, 2023 Report Posted May 1, 2023 1) They have the best power play in the regular season and in the playoffs, by a lot in both instances. 2) 3 of the 4 teams who finished the reg season ahead of the Oilers are in the east, and only 1 can come out of there. So the Oiler have to play Vegas, who finished 2 points ahead of them, plus one other team that finished max 4 points ahead of them. 3) The Leafs suck, so it's really just a best of 7 right now ? 4) The Canes are the most recent cup winners left, and they won in '06/. There are no players left from that team. 5) Leon Draisaitl is one of the all-time best players in the playoffs, averaging 1.6 ppg. That's like a 133-point reg season. Even McJesus only averages 1.51 ppg, and he gets to play with German Gretzky. To be fair though, LD gets to face 2nd-rate defenders when him and Connor are on different lines, so the edge probably goes to Connor. Matthews and Marner a a paltry .95ppg. 6) The Oilers have the most PPG and ESGoals of any team left in the playoffs. TBH, I'd love to see a Canadian team win this year, so a Tor-Edm SCF would be awesome imo. I don't like the officiating already, but it's a good matchup. impartialobserver Posted May 2, 2023 Report Posted May 2, 2023 I am not the most passionate/knowledgeable NHL Fan. I like what I see and I follow along but rarely watch games. I too would love to watch an EDM vs. TOR Stanley Cup Final. Quote

The beauty of the NHL is that you do not get predictable matchups. It is not like in the NBA where young, upstart really have no chance against GSW, LAL, or PHO. However, Americans have shown that they prefer predictable matchups where the outcome is a foregone conclusion. Quote
