CdnFox Posted April 8, 2023 Report Posted April 8, 2023 Quote https://nationalpost.com/opinion/ndp-spreads-housing-misinformation-to-protect-trudeau Unfortunately, feelings and finger pointing aren’t enough to solve the housing crisis, and certainly not ones as misdirected as Blaikie’s. While his speech struck a chord with millennials and Gen Z practically begging politicians to get angry on their behalf, it was full of misinformation meant to obscure the Trudeau Liberals’ responsibility for the crisis. It is simply not true that Canadian home prices accelerated nearly as quickly under Harper, or any other prime minister for that matter, as they have under Trudeau. Since Trudeau took power in 2015, national home prices have skyrocketed at unprecedented rates, particularly when compared to largely stagnant incomes. According to the non-partisan Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO), the average Canadian home price was $413,000 in 2015. By late 2021, the average was $811,700–– a 96.5 per cent increase. Lefties gotta lie. But it's disappointing to see the NDP, once upon a time considered to be the conscious of the parliament, riding shotgun for the liberals while average people and workers (the NDP's bread and butter) can't afford a place to live.
