Hostage

Just recently their has been a report of 2 Canadian hostages in iraq. All though it's not Canada's fault of these hostages being taken, consideirng we warned humanatarian aid workers to avoid Iraq, I think somthing has to be done, they are fellow Canadians after all. I know our government adn CSIS is doing everything they can to bring these two home I suggest we keep it quiet and not start a war about this sending soldiers in Iraq unless we need to. What do you propose we do to rescue these hostages?

If you tell someone "Hey, man, don't try climb down from that 15th-floor balcony on a string of bedsheets because you'll probably fall and get killed", and then they try it, and fall, and get killed, then my sympathy is limited.

If we've been telling Canadians, "Hey, man, don't go to Iraq because you may get kidnapped and have your head chopped off", and then they go over just the same, well, my sympathy is, once again, limited.

Yeah, we should try to get them back, but through diplomatic channels only.

There is no information concerning the identity of these Canadians.

This is another aspect of Canadian politics I feel has gone astray.

This is the issue of dual citizenship.

How do you know one is loyal to Canada especially when allowed to retain the citizenship of especially a third world volatile country.

Why are new immigrants especially from third world Arab countries allowed to retain their citizenship and allowed to freely travel back to their troubled homeland and not only involving Canada in their plight when something happens but involving all Canadians with imported politics from another country.

There are many Canadians who believe in Western standards and our form of democracy and do not wish to become entangled with another countries volatile political problems and try to maintain a Canadian identity and not become politically involved with another volatile countries political problems complete with a set if other values and identity.

The immigration logic our current Liberal government uses defies all reasonable considerations concerning this issue and clearly shows the incompetentency of the Liberal government and the political spitefulness it has for long standing Canadian citizens.

Really, you're jumpin to conclusions and taking this into territory (immigration) that has little bearing on the issue at hand (the kidnaping of two Canadian humanitarian workers).

It is obvious Canadian aid workers would not likely be in Iraq initially if Canada had not harboured a fairly recently acquired significant enough population of Arab immigrants and this is DIRECTLY related to Canadian immigration.

The press is lacking credibility in making this a front page story without being able to provide proper information and names of the workers involved.

Mostly all previous violent incidents murder, kidnappings etc. including the outrageously expensive Mahar Arar case and similar cases involved Arab nationalities.
