So it looks like the Liberals are going to have to fight a three-front war without support in their attacks on the Conservatives.

From today's Globe and Mail.

NDP Leader Jack Layton appears set to break the pattern of demonizing the Conservatives by making Mr. Harper look a lot less fear-provoking than he did in 2004. By co-operating with Mr. Harper in the current effort to bring down the government, Mr. Layton is essentially saying to his supporters that they have little to fear from a Harper government.

Here's another quote from the same article.

Finally, there is some evidence that the NDP is making efforts to protect their group of lower- and middle-class voters from fleeing to the Liberals, something they tend to do when confronted with the possibility of a Conservative government.

And here's the link to that article while I am at it.

Some random globe article...

If Mr Layton was true in his fiscal beliefs he would not be cooperating with the liberals. The NDP party has simply made unacceptable health care demands, andif the liberals were to please these demands they would be betraying their platform and the voters who put them in power. Politicians are representatives, thus they should always represent what their voters want, not subdue themselves to mindless political games. It's this type of parliamentary behaviour that widens the gap between the electorate and the politicians.

Fiscal belief #1 of the NDP: there is a bottomless supply of taxpayers money to pay for whatever social programs you want. Even if the supply runs out, there is always credit.

No wait, that is a Liberal fiscal belief.... It's all so confusing.

The government should do something.

Sounds more like a Conservative measure.....well, at least a Republican measure.

All the Liberal scandals aside, you really cannot fault them their economic stewartship of Canada. They have after all lowered our debt and brought the budget under control. Canada is one of the very few first world industrial nations to actually have a surplus.

The Liberals are really small c-Conservatives at heart. And to be perfectly honest, I trust Harper about as far as I can throw the bugger. I find his ideology, world view and thinking far too close to that of Bush and Co for comfort. And as a ex-member of the CAF, I am very glad he was not in power when the US invade (illegally at that) Iraq, because he would of sent our troops into that mess without missing a beat. And before you think I am anti-military, you would be wrong. I support the effort in Afghanistan, after all that nation and its Taliban leadership were harbouring and protecting OSL and AQ.

I would vote Conservative again, if we really had a Conservative Party, but sadly once again I will have to cast my vote for either the NDP or Liberals, depending on which Party has the better chance of denying the CCRAP party my riding.

I am hoping the Harper gets bitch slapped silly this time and we old Progressive Conservative can claim back our party.

Pal,

Makes sense you served in the military.

Your writing is mistake-ridden, boardering on unintelligible. You blindly believe the party line of the government without questioning it. The only people who think the Conservatives are like the Republicans are Liberal and ND partisans.

There are huge differences between the Conservatives and the Republicans in the U.S. I could debate it further, but would you honestly listen with an open mind?

You feel the rules of the board don't apply to you. Please avoid using childish names for parties. Crap, Ccrap along with Fliberals are banned here. Those are the rules, deal with that as you will.

Hoping Harper gets "bitch slapped" - wow that one contributed to the level of the debate.

No, the Liberals are whatever anyone in Ontario wants them to be. If you are right-wing, they really conservatives. If you are left-wing, the NDP are Liberals in a hurry. And if you want to be cool-chic, the Liberals are the "radical middle".

Ultimately though, the Liberals are the party that unites English and French Canada. It is the Canadian Party.

And to be perfectly honest, I trust Harper about as far as I can throw the bugger.
Why do you mistrust Harper?

How is the old P-C Party different from the CPC?

Where have you been... He's not cooperating with them, because they won't guarantee that they will protect public health care....

Public health care is an unacceptable demand... And it is what the Liberals were promising before the last election...

"We're not so different, the NDP and Liberals..."... remember Paul Martin saying that to try to buy NDP votes....
