August1991 Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 What is the chance of an event? Risk is the chance of a Queen on the next draw. Uncertainty is the chance of a woman walking on Mars before 2100. By definition, we're picking a number between 0 and 1. == But what is the cost of needing the money next Tuesday - not Thursday, as they promised? What if I lose $100,000 but you lose your trust in yourself? Is variance the same as risk? ====== I reckon that time is another word/synonym for chance/probability. Quote
August1991 Posted December 25, 2021 Author Report Posted December 25, 2021 By definition, time defines the limit of probability. Quote
August1991 Posted December 28, 2021 Author Report Posted December 28, 2021 Time? It determines the event. What do we mean as "simultaneous"? Different supposedly "simultaneous" events can occur at apparently different times. Quote
August1991 Posted December 28, 2021 Author Report Posted December 28, 2021 (edited) We can move around in x,y.z co-ordinates. But in the other co-ordinate, we can only move in one direction because of probability: the decision of an event, roll of a die. ==== BTW, I've never liked the Cartesian x-y plane. It cannot show negative roots. IMV, our entire notation in mathematics is based on money and trade. Edited December 28, 2021 by August1991 Quote
