Not about that choice though I unreservedly support it as well.

There's no point in pretending that even a cleanest election has much meaning without meaningful choice, and full choice. Restricting the choice is tantamount to restricting the freedom of election.

An election, ultimately is about the choice. With a sleight of hand the bureaucracy masterfully made it about the process.

Representatives are no longer our, citizens, delegates because they are recruited by party elites into a system of revolting privilege and entitlement with conflicted loyalties. Such a system cannot be effective and productive for the society that funds it and owns it.

This is not an easy topic and as the history has shown it will not have easy solutions. A meaningful and necessary change in this country comes long and hard.

As a practical solution a simple approach is proposed. It does not require radical changes, only a return to the basic foundation of democracy that a representative is he or she of the citizens and citizens only. No conflicts of interest and/or loyalty are allowed. Any system that creates such conflicts cannot work for the citizens.

1. Citizens representative voluntarily refuses and does not accept in any form outrageous and unjustified entitlements; they accept reasonable modest compensation for expenses incurred directly in executing citizens business.

2. Citizens representative votes only with their conscience in the interests of the citizens. Pressure or influence by any interests including partisan is not tolerated. Partisan whipping is not acceptable to citizens representatives.

Personally, this is the minimum I could think of short of giving up on voting without meaningful choice.
