Montgomery Burns Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Sept 14 at 7 PM Eastern Time: Christopher Hitchens versus George Galloway Unfortunately, the moderator for this debate will be radical leftist Amy Goodman, so you can expect biased moderation. Think CBC moderators. Galloway is the Saddam supporter who admitted in an interview (which the liberal media refused to report) that the "progressives" were on the same side as the anti-American/Western Islamists...like we didn't already know that. I don't know what to make of Hitchens. He seems to be one of those leftists who woke up to reality after the 9-11 declaration of war on America. I saw a poll of favorite writers recently, and he was in the top 15 favorites of both the right and the left. Hitchens gives a preview today with this pointed taunt: George Galloway Is Gruesome, Not Gorgeous. Now, watch me debate him Sept 14 at 8 PM Eastern Time: Victor Davis Hanson versus Arianna Huffington This will be a mismatch. VDH is one of the smartest guys around. It will be like when Dick Cheney chewed up John Edwards during their debate. However, I have to give Huffington credit for having the guts to take on VDH. Perhaps she thinks the campus crowd of youngsters will save her, a la Crossfire always being held at Georgetown University, so Begala and Carville wouldn't look like the clowns they are. She's got more guts than DNC Chairman Howard Dean, who has refused to appear on Bill O'Reilly's No Spin Zone - and O'Reilly is no VDH. Montgomery Burns Posted September 16, 2005 Author Report Posted September 16, 2005 I missed the Victor Davis Hanson/Arianna Huffington debate, but I caught the Christopher Hitchens/George Galloway debate. Poor Galloway. He got the living snot kicked out of him on the debate floor. I pretty well tuned out Galloway when he lied and said that Al Qaeda had nothing to do with Saddam. But I think the most entertaining part of the show was that old hippy in the pre-show. His use of the word "man" was like a trip back to the 60s. Yeah man, sure man, okay man, etc. And I have to give the Quote of the Day™ to that old hippy: "Computers are oppressors, man." And the LLL wonders why few take them seriously... And how about the rap song to end the debate..."George Bush don't like black people".... That should have been put in the thread I aptly titled, "The ugly hate-filled left". Quote "Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebat™ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005. Montgomery Burns Posted September 17, 2005 Author Report Posted September 17, 2005 George Galloway says Canada is complicit in Iraq war After being humiliated by Christopher Hitchens, Galloway skulks into Mississauga with his tail between his legs and proclaims: Despite its refusal to fight in Iraq, Canada is complicit in the U.S. war on terrorism and should withdraw from Afghanistan, an outspoken left-wing British MP said Saturday. Whatsa matter Galloway? You upset that Saddam paid you less than he paid Paul Martin and the Chretien family? "I'm amazed that so many people in Canada believe they're not a part of this crime," George Galloway said at the sixth annual conference of the Islamic Circle of North America and the Muslim Association of Canada. "Canada has sent an army of 1,000 soldiers to occupy the Muslim country of Afghanistan (and ships to the Persian Gulf)," Galloway said. "Your ships in the Gulf and your soldiers in Afghanistan are doing the dirty work of George W. Bush and Tony Blair. They are freeing American ships and soldiers to go to Fallujah and massacre the people of Iraq." Galloway also called Canada's reputation as peacekeepers a lie, pointing to comments by Gen. Rick Hillier, who said soldiers are fighting "detestable murderers and scumbags." Hillier has said the Canadian Forces has a job to do and that involves killing people. Canadian Forces are supposed to kill massmurdering head-chopping Islamofascists? The nerve of General Hillier! "That doesn't sound very much like neutrality to me," Galloway said to a receptive crowd. "You should raise the demand to end the Canadian occupation of Afghanistan." Galloway is known for his vocal criticism of the war in Iraq and was kicked out of the Labour Party in 2003 for urging British soldiers not to fight in the war. Words cannot describe the contempt I have for Galloway and his fellow "progressives" who support the mass murder of the Iraqis who are trying to build a democracy. Quote "Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebat™ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005. Shady Posted September 17, 2005 Report Posted September 17, 2005 You're right, Galloway is truely a despicable person. I watched the debate. You can link up to it through Hitchen's website, and then via the BBC. The debate was a complete mismatch. I kept waiting for Galloway to respond with some substance, instead of a litany of insults. But apparently he's incapable of doing so. You gotta wonder about someone who defends people like Saddam Hussein, Bashar Assad, Kim Jong Ill, as well as the old Soviet Union, but at the same time denounces America and Britain as the world's biggest rogue states. I'm still trying to figure out how that ties into the 2003 Iraq War. Did you hear when those radicals shouted "NO" when Hitchens asked for a moment of silence for the 150 innocent Iraqis who had been killed by terrorist bombs that day? The far left is scary. Their hatred for freedom, their lust for totalitarianism, and their contempt for the Iraqis trying to build a democracy is truly frightening. I listened to the Hitchens/Galloway debate, but I missed the Huffington/VDH debate. I went to the university's website but the clip wouldn't play. Do you know of any place else it is available on the net? C-Span is only playing Galloway/Hitchens; I see nothing about Huffington/VDH on their site. Montgomery Burns Posted September 18, 2005 Author Report Posted September 18, 2005 I found the video tape of Arianna Huffington and Victor Davis Hanson debating. War and Empire: the Debate. Shady Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 Did you hear when those radicals shouted "NO" when Hitchens asked for a moment of silence for the 150 innocent Iraqis who had been killed by terrorist bombs that day? Yep. They're the same people that claim they support the troops. They, for whatever reason, cannot seperate their hatred of President Bush, with the Iraqi people. It's a sad, sad, thing. Thanks for the link to the other debate. Quote
