Montgomery Burns Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 theloniusfleabag: ...but there is a small minority that just spew verbal diarrhea, and add nothing to debate, not even humour value. I agree. Your comment about Argus being a conservative is a perfect example of that. Justice would mean that this offensive poster would see some 'hard time' in an all-gay biker prison. This is a political forum, not a forum for sexual fantasies. Guest eureka Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Would you say that you are radical in your "Conservative" views, Burns? Quote
Montgomery Burns Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Do you consider Libertarian-Conservatives radical, Eureka? Or is anyone who doesn't hate the US - and especially President Bush - with every fiber of their being, radical? Guest eureka Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 No, I consider those to be fixated and blinkered and, in general, not very bright. But that was not my question. Quote
I Miss Trudeau Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Do you consider Libertarian-Conservatives radical, Eureka? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seeing as there is nothing liberatarian about you, I fail to see the relevance of your "answer" to Eureka's question. Cartman Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Please don't insult the forum's intelligence by suggesting you are a conservative. You aren't fooling anybody. Burns, this is the kind of stuff that is really irritating. EVERYONE here knows that Argus is a conservative. Everyone. Debating this is just useless. From what I gather, he believes in lower taxes, less government etc. Just because he can be critical of right-wing politicians does not make him less of a conservative. Regardless of your political stripe you cannot blindly accept the actions or rhetoric of politicians in power. That is just dangerous. I started a thread asking people to identify 3 policies they dislike of the current political party they support. I critiqued the NDP and Layton specifically. Could you do the same? Is there anything you do not like about the Conservatives or Republicans? You can't just follow. I think it was called "Plain Bad Policies". Quote You will respect my authoritah!!
Argus Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I am a conservative. Bush is not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thin its funy how liberals complain about how Bush is a conservative. Bush is not at all a conservative besides his weak stance on the war. He spends like a democrat. Its like the whole political spektrum has moved in america. The republicans are now spending like democrats and the democrats want to spend like socialists. Whoever you vote for, you can count on wealth redistribution and a ever increasing useless government. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Republicans are owned by big money campaign contributers, primarily big corporations and wealthy individuals, but also the loonies form the religious right like Pat Robertson. That means they have to concentrate on making life more profitable for the corporations, and nagging everyone on sexual related issues; abortion, sex education, sexual morality, pornography, etc. The current crop in the White House are just poiseurs interested only in profiting themselves and their friends. I don't think Bush has any more of an ideology than Chretien. What is conservatism at heart? Prudence. Caution. Care. A conservative doesn't rush to judgement, rush to make changes without gathering all the facts, without studying the ramifications of policy changes. To be conservative in government means only so much government as is needed, only so much interference in people's live, in the economy, as is absolutely required. Hopefully, it's also meant a sense of obligation, honesty and integrity, an understanding that you are serving the people, and using the people's money, not your own. That awareness seems gone now, whether it's Joe Volpe treating himself to big dinners, Pierre Pettigrew taking his chauffeur on holidays, or the Republicans ladling out huge, pork-riddled spending bills which primarily help themselves. But at least the Liberals don't pretend to be conservative. LotusLandLunatic Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Is there anything you do not like about the Conservatives? How split up they are. More than ever. You've got Harper and his bunch on one side, while big name conservatives like Manning, Harris, Klein, Mulroney, Joe Clark and their admirerers are on the sidelines ready to vote Liberal. It's nuts!
