Tolerance does in fact increase the younger and more educated Canadians are.  I'm sure this is very disconcerning to the Conservatives, who rely on older, uneducated, and ignorant Canadians as their voter base.  Through the magic of time, these voters will eventually die off, leaving a much more progressive Canada.

Alberta is the strongest supporter of the Conservatives, and they are also the youngest population in Canada (not including the Territories).  The other strongest Conservative area is Sask and it is the next youngest.  I'm confused then, I thought that the Conservatives only relied on the old dumb people for support.  Could you clarify all this for me?

I can tell you, older people tend to be more stubborn about their views. My father for instance is of the notion, "I voted Liberal when I turned 18 and I'll vote Liberal until the day I die." He doesn't care about the issues, the platforms, what scandals are going on, etc. If it has red on it, he'll vote for it. I think younger people have less party loyalty than older people, but I could be wrong.

Tolerance is sometimes just another word for "no standardsd". And truly, the younger you are, the less you know about anything, and the poorer your judgement. The old conservatives will indeed die off, and the young 'tolerant" people will grow up - and become conservatives. That's the way the world works.

How can anyone forget that the free-love generation grew up into the "Me generation", the greed generation. The generation which grew up on pot and drugs moved onto cocaine and then voted in favour of strict drug control laws.

"A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

This just goes to show that Harper is following the teachings of his religious beliefs, and I would expect nothing less, and that is more than I can say for Martin who only in 1999 supported a motion to retain the traditional definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. Now in 2004 seeing some political gain to be had and wanting to take the spotlight off of his involvement in the Sponsorship Fraud of which he was part, he does a flip-flop and now his Catholic upbringing goes out the window to appease a small vocal minority. His changing his tune is having repercussions right across Canada. I know that polls conducted by Liberal friendly polling companies, and the Ottawa spin doctors in the Press Corp, favour the Liberal's, and why wouldn't they, the Liberal's are theri bread and butter. CBC alone relies on billions of taxpayer's dollars every year to survive. If not for that steady stream of money coming from the taxpayer's of this country the CBC would disappear very quickly.

The Ottawa Press Gallery is very quick to point out anyting that is in the least controversial regarding the CPC, but when it comes to Liberal Party scandals they seem to put a positive light on it. I think that Martin and the Liberal are going to find out when they go to the polls that the silent majority are very unhappy especially over Bill C-38, and both the Liberals and the NDP stand to lose considerable support, regardless of what the polls show. Just remember most of those polls are being paid for by the Liberal Party, adn there is a good cahnce that in a round about way, knowing how this government works, we the taxpayers are paying this bill.
