The NDP renewed its calls for an independent investigation into allegations of vote-buying on Parliament Hill, saying "it's important that the air be cleared on this."

"The best way to clear that concern, whichever way it goes, would be for an independent investigation, probably the RCMP, to have a look at this....I think Canadians have some concerns," NDP strategist Jamey Heath said, appearing on CTV's Question Period.

On Friday, the party's Leader Jack Layton indicated he was concerned by the conversation between husband-and-wife Conservative MPs Gurmant and Nina Grewal.

"Ultimately the officials responsible for the enforcement of the laws of this country will have to take a look at any situation that has been brought to their attention to see if laws have been violated," Layton said earlier.

Grewal is clearly lying or telling only half the story. It sounds more like an attempt to get him amnesty from the investigation into his immigration dealings.

The investigation should be into how Joe Volpe leaked personal information from Grewel's family's immigration file in order to slander him.

But to the board's most steadfast defender of lies, corruption and organized crime, the tories are always assumed to be in the wrong.

Sounds to me like he's just willing to sit down with an opposition MP and hammer out an agreement to get him on side. Notice how he's not offering him anything? Notice how the mention of the Senate is right at the beginning of the transcript so we don't know in what context it was being said? And even then the only mention of Senate in the tape is met with a negative reaction?

Sad thing is this garbage will probably fool people.

You can put whatever Liberal spin on this you want, it is clear that there was talk of reciprocity if Grewal abstained from the vote.

The terrible shame of it all is that Kimmy & Tweal will believe just about anything the Lieberal's say, talk about brain washed. I think most Canadian's know by now that this is a party of thieves and liars, and they will do and say just about anything to hang onto power.

If Martin is so confident that he has the support of the people of Canada, then he should desolve Parliament and seek a rightful mandate from the people. He is not willing to do that because he is well aware that the people of this country are totally pissed, and want his head on a platter, along with the rest of the thieves and liar from his side of the house. As for waiting for the Gomery Inquiry, I predict that it is nothing more than a whitewash, and stalling tactic in the hopes that some othr crisis will develop so that people will forget about the theft of taxpayer's money by Liberal ad agencies and let's not forget the kickbacks to the Party.

We can only hope that the people of Labrador aren't naive enough to believe that the Lieberal's are about to put some money into military spending, especialy in Newfoundland & Labrador. Sure they'll tell them whatever it is they want to hear to get them to vote Liberal. Now I might believe spending money to move more of our military to Quebec, because they have already moved a good portion of it there already.
