Paul Martin will fail, who will take his job?

And as I take man's last step from the surface, for now but we believe not too far into the future. I just like to say what I believe history will record that America's challenge on today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And as we leave the surface of Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and god willing we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17.

Although Martin's father was a Francophone he is generally considered to be an Anglophone. Thus the next Liberal leader is supposed to be French. You've only got one Francophone on the list. And Pettigrew, at least, would make an interesting choice, as the first openly homosexual prime minister.

"A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

What gives? It just told me that I had already voted in this poll (when of course I haven't). Rotten thing.

I vote for Brison. I think he'll make a run for it and get it. About time we had someone from the real east in.

I kinda like Scott Brison for the Job, but I think he is tying himself to a sinking ship as of late

The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. - Ayn Rand

None of the above.

I doubt that the Liberals, when the time comes, will pick anyone associated with the Liberals governments of the last 5-8 years.

They will need someone untainted by the sponsorship mess.

Who that could be, I have no idea.

I don't even have a suggestion.

I've always liked Lloyd Axworthy.

Brison is openly gay and that makes his a bit more difficult to endorse.

I agree with newfie that they will want someone who was not associated with the Chretien government and who has stayed well away from the whole mess.

Dryden fits that bill as he was just elected with the last government and could not associated with the current adscam stuff. A national hockey hero (who is very widely admired in Quebec), a lawyer and a generally good guy makes him pretty attractive as a national leader. He is also smart as the dickens. But does he has the charisma to carry it off.

None of the above.

Most likely : Frank McKenna

Dark Horse: Brian Tobin

Scott Brison is a featherweight. He's just another shrill front bench apologist. His comments lately have been laughable.

Whoever replaces Martin (which will happend after the next election no matter what the outcome) will have to appear to be distanced from the Liberal Old Guard.

The government should do something.

I think you've missed two who may take a run at it once again although the likelyhood of them succeeding (for one at least is minimal at best); John Manley and Alan Rock. Rock probably doesn't have a hope in hell for leadership and most definitely not PM but Manley just may succeed where others fail. He is widely seen as being part of the Chretien era but distinctly distant from Sponsorship and other scandals that have broken the Liberals back over time.

Other than that I'm not sure. Dryden is really an opportunist if you ask me. He was lending us his box at ACC for Conservative fundraising (he was present for the events), meanwhile he announced his Liberal candidacy two weeks after our last event.

IMV John Manley did himself in with the proposal of a common North America. Only some of the CPCers think this is a good idea; and those are usually the same ones that wish Canada would be annexed by the USA or they were Americans rather than Canadians.

If you and I are looking at the same thread, I agree. But I want to know what Big Blue is referring to.
