Left for life Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 and low pay for workers, and a lack of cost of living raises undermines the middle class which the business community, and the entire economy relies on for fuel for the economic engine. The Business world is destroying itself through poor business practices such as sending work overseas. Businesses get enough breaks in this country they don't need anymore. The liberals have struck the right balance of business vs the rights of people so far and I don't think they should follow anything that this group has mentioned because it would be detrimental to the people of Canada. Left for life Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Taxes do drive businesses away especially from socialist havens like the tax and spend Bush liberals in the United States. That is why large US corporations like Stanley Tools are moving to places like Bermuda with no taxes and no social welfare policies. Don't believe me? Click on the link.http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0522/p01s01-uspo.html Why is this considered "un-American" when it is just plain economics? "These expatriations aren't illegal, but they're sure immoral," declared Sen. Charles Grassley ® of Iowa recently. "During a war on terrorism, coming out of a recession, everyone ought to be pulling together. If companies don't have their hearts in America, they ought to get out." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is un-American because it hurts America and for some reason the American public and politicians believe that Business should be loyal to the country they started in vs being loyal to stock holders and profit. I miss Reagan Posted June 28, 2005 Author Report Posted June 28, 2005 Actually I disagree with the good Senator from Iowa. But Bush is far less protectionist than Kerry or the Dems are. We're entering a new era here with China in the picture. In fact I think the US has a lot to worry about, if it doesn't wake up here. Anyway, the China threat would make for a good topic elsewhere. Canada should be even more worried because we are further behind, and if the US goes down, they're taking us with them. Our over spending and regressive tax policies are only putting us further behind. Why is this considered "un-American" when it is just plain economics? I agree. I guess if you're a Senator where your voter base is an aging rural population in Iowa that probably has little means or motivation to retrain themselves, your best bet is to go protectionist. Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war." -Karl Rove
Big Blue Machine Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 If they are anti-protectionist, why didn't they re-open the border to beef (before the second case of MCD was discovered)? Why haven't they solved the soft-wood lumber issue? Quote And as I take man's last step from the surface, for now but we believe not too far into the future. I just like to say what I believe history will record that America's challenge on today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And as we leave the surface of Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and god willing we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17.
