August1991 Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Headline: Bush offers budget with deep spending cuts However, outside defence, homeland security and the government's huge mandatory programs such as Social Security, Bush proposes cutting spending for the rest of government by 0.5 per cent, the first such proposed cut since the Reagan administration battled with its own soaring deficits. Globe & Mail 1/2 % reduction in discretionary spending is a deep spending cut? It's a budget of $2.5 trillion. That number is incomprehensible. It turns out to be about $8000 for each American. I hate to think of the pork. 1/2 % reduction is nothing. Nevertheless, wait for the howls. Quote
