Guest eureka Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I completely agree: we are still stumbling in the dark. Unfortunately, there are some politicos who are trying to prvent the lights from being turned on. Quote
August1991 Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 Eureka, how do you conceive the ideal education system? I think we must transmit to young people knowledge and I also think more than parents must be involved in this. I also think that we should collectively take care of children whose parents can't cope or don't cope. My other thoughts? A good, open education system is a wonderful way to allow social mobility. Children, for the first 10 years of their life, should have the same teacher. (I believe Piaget argued this.) The best way to understand a society is to understand its education system. Unfortunately, there are some politicos who are trying to prvent the lights from being turned on.I wouldn't blame the politicos, anymore than the teachers' unions. Quote
Tawasakm Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The purpose of the testing though is really to identify kids that need help. The IQ test was originally developed in France as a means to identify chidlren that needed extra help with education. The IQ test has a proven validity - in that it is good at measuring what it is supposed to measure. If you want to identify 'special needs' children then all you need to do is administer that test systematically. Quote
