A substandard sweatshop factory that should not have been operating killed 1,129 people. What happened in the wake of those events ? The coverage was scant and this is a failing of mainstream media that is not realized: the disaster gets coverage because it's horrific, shocking, and ultimately entertaining. The follow-up is not entertaining and therefore is not covered. Joe Fresh and other companies took steps to help improve inspections but companies like Reitman's and LuluLemon have NOT signed on.
