jbg Posted August 24, 2016 Report Posted August 24, 2016 Blue Rodeo's Bob Egan leaving band to work at Kitchener Public Library Blue Rodeo’s pedal steel player Bob Egan is leaving the band for a job with the Kitchener Public Library. The 60-year-old says it wasn’t an easy decision but that he couldn’t refuse an offer to help build up the community in his southern Ontario home.**********Egan is also a new dad with a 14-month-old son, he jokes that he’s “clean-shaven and wearing slacks for the first time in 25 years.” Since 2002, Blue Rodeo has become one of my favorite groups. Ironically the group got its start in New York City when Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor , as expat Canadians, played regularly in New York City clubs. As a result of those roots they return fairly regularly to play in New York, either as Blue Rodeo or Jim Cuddy playing in a solo role. I rarely miss an opportunity to see them perform. jbg Posted August 24, 2016 Author Report Posted August 24, 2016 Well at least it's not Jim Cuddy leaving. Correct me if I'm wrong but the group has always effectively been a Cuddy-Keelor vehicle. The other musicians such as Packwood and even Egan were more or less peripheral. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone."
