What makes you believe our media is any better? The mentality of 'our guys don't do that' will get you in the long run.

I believe the major media in any nation is a good indicator of the leanings of its government. The more oppressive nations have full control of their media and its becomes their main means of propaganda. I have found that when I post here and reference Al Jazeera, the most respected and objective media out for the Middle East, the bright lights around here accuse me of terrorist leanings. Then when I reference KyivPost, the national newspaper of the Ukraine for posts on Ukraine, the similar bright lights confuse it with Russian publications.

For those who care, for any story that interests me, I search the Net for which publications are carrying the story - then decide on the validity of the information.

Even Canadian national incidents can have very different interpretation and political spin depending on its analysis in the Sun, Globe and Mail, Star and/or the various TV media outlets.

Moonlight your blaming the mess in the ME solely on colonial intervention is not accurate. The wars of Muslim on Muslim were transpiring long before you Christians decided to engage in your crusade and long before any colonialists got involved.

That said I appreciate it makes it far more simple to explain by blaming colonialists rather than look at the actual anthropology of the ME and its constant tribal wars.
