jbg Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 Last night, New York's Metropolitan Opera opened with a performance of John Adams’s “The Death of Klinghoffer.” According to coverage, the show glamorizes the Palestinian terrorist who shot Leon Klinghoffer on the Achille Lauro cruise ship as he sat in his wheelchair and dumped him into the Mediterranean. There were, to be fair, two disruptions of the performance while it was in progress. Link to article, excerpts below: Protests Greet Metropolitan Opera’s Premiere of ‘Klinghoffer’ At the Metropolitan Opera’s first performance of John Adams’s “The Death of Klinghoffer” on Monday night, men and women in evening attire walked through a maze of police barricades, while protesters shouted “Shame!” and “Terror is not art!” One demonstrator held aloft a white handkerchief splattered with red. Others, in wheelchairs set up for the occasion, lined Columbus Avenue. Political figures, including former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, joined a rally, several hundred strong at Lincoln Center, to denounce an opera that has become the object of a charged debate about art, anti-Semitism and politics. But here's the question; was anyone killed? Were bombs detonated? If the show were anti-Muslim, can you imagine the reaction? Remember, the Obama administration blamed the murder of two U.S. diplomats on an allegedly anti-Islam Youtube video. I don't give much credence in that blame, but the fact is that such extreme violence is all too common. Does anyone expect that from a group of Jews? Now Jews have plenty of cause for anger. Reams of pogroms. The Holocaust. But where is the violence or the apologists for such violence? Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
jbg Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Posted October 22, 2014 I'm gonna go with zero. So you're not guessing 700 or so?
