monty16 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Thank dog for the nuclear deterrent to war! http://rt.com/news/165464-russia-baltic-drills-nato/ It's the nuclear deterrent that makes it unnecessary to show the most strength, only 'enough' strength. It says, don't dick around with me or you will have your own glass parking lot. I'll leave it up to the forum members to decide which side is which. I'll only say, the US/Nato wants the Ukraine in it's pockets and it's not giving up yet. Quote

Queenmandy85 Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 I would never click on a link. That's an invitation to trouble. That being said, a nuclear deterrence depends on convincing your opponent you are crazy enough to use it. That was Reagan's specialty. He managed to make the Soviets believe he was quite willing to commit global suicide to deter them. The problem with nuclear weapons is, in the words of JFK, " The fruits of victory would be ashes in our mouth." In 1972, I had the opportunity to ask Canada's chief military representative in NORAD about the outcome of a nuclear exchange between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces. "Ninety percent of the earth's population would die in four weeks. The rest would take a few days longer." Pretty sobering prospect. Quote A Conservative stands for God, King and Country
jbg Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Reading the title and your post, without clicking the link, I have no idea what this thread is about. It's about his hankering for anything where the West is weakened relative to the Russian Federation. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
monty16 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Report Posted June 13, 2014 It's about his hankering for anything where the West is weakened relative to the Russian Federation. Anything where the US is weakened period. The US is responsible for nearly all of our global unrest and wars. Certainly all of them in the ME. Did you think that Russia was somehow responsible for a war in the Crimea? Quote
