On Guard for Thee Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Which streets? How about the streets of Ft. Lauderdale from my ows experience, for starters. And I'm not talking about "the streets" I'm talking about legal gun shops along those streets. Quote

Strange......Broward county actually enforces background checks not only at "legal gun shops along those streets", but also gun shows......making it a very "strict" place to purchase firearms in a gun friendly State..... What I found strange was all I needed was a picture ID as in DL. Even stranger was the CNN doc done not long ago where they attend something like 6 gun shows in 4 different states and purchase quite an arsenal (around 2 g's worth) from pistols to a semi with a kit to turn the semi into fully and much of the purchasing done with no more than a first name, which itslef was phony. That's more than strange to me, that's all the way to downright scary. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Keep in mind as well that the Newtown shooting was carried out with legally obtained weapons, apparently even including the 30 round......magazine. The Blackwater boys told me those were illegal in the states but the news reports say otherwise. I guess it doesn't much matter to the dead kids and their loved ones. Quote

I find that hard to believe. No you didn't.....you might have seen a kit that allows bump fires......To turn an AR-15 into a select fire rifle would necessitate changing the entire lower receiver, sear and bolt carrier etc…….of course that would cost more then just purchasing an actual M-16 lower receiver (or full gun) legally. If changing an AR-15 into a select fire rifle was as easy as you suggest, they wouldn’t be allowed in Canada. Quote

No they didn't......30 round USGI and PMAG magazines are one of the biggest, legal, firearm related sales items within the United States.....boarding on almost being bought and sold like a commodity stock......they maybe banned from sale in a few States, cities and counties, but they are far from being hard to purchase legally. On Guard for Thee Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I think the kit was about 150 bucks, and no they wouldn't be allowed in Canada. And I didn't buy a gun to take to Canada, I got one to take on my sailboat into the Carribean as there were lots of pirate stories going around. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 You’re correct here….well said. Quote

So you broke both Federal and State laws, and if done in Broward county, a municipal ordinance ......I wouldn't brag about that too much......the ATF frowns on such behaviour... Quote

I wasn't aware I broke any laws, I'm just an ignorant Canuck after all, the gun store guy probably should have known something. Either you don't know or he didn't care. Either way the point is guns are easily had in the US. Quote

Ignorance isn’t a defence……and if you bought a firearm to fight pirates outside of US borders , you’ve probably broken a host of ITAR laws (and a few more if you returned to the United States with said firearm) and perhaps even several international laws………You couple this to your career as a PMC and you could get the book thrown at you………You do know this website is hosted in the United States right? You might want to confirm this, I could be wrong (I'm not), I'd contact these guys to see if you're alright: http://www.atf.gov/field/international.html#canada You might also want to edit your posts to remove any incriminating evidence........Unfortunately, since you’re an illicit arms trafficker, I’m forced to recuse myself from further contact and discussion with you………Best of luck with the stormy seas ahead.
