rickturpin Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 I listened to the entries and was struck by the fact that 2 or 3 of them (maybe 4 or 5, I lost count) begin with "he shoots, he scores". Those of us who grew up listening to Foster Hewitt can relate. He became famous for the phrase "He shoots, he scores!" and it looks like his legacy is strong. Maybe we need to revive it for the Leafs to win the cup in this lifetime. http://canadian-anthem.com Pick ONE. Quote
Michael Hardner Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 I miss the old anthem. Wife was sick on Saturday so I sat down to watch HNIC for the first time in ... 8 years ? This crazy punk rock song came on to start the show. That and the subsequent ad-fest made Saturday into Maple Leaf Web night in Canada for me. rickturpin Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 I know what you mean. We need a good consistent "theme song" that becomes the face of hockey -and that's what the CBC contest is all about a search for the song that has the potential to become the next anthem. All good shows have that instant recogniton song -think Bonanza, Hawai five 0, the old hockey anthem, etc.etc., etc. If we find that in 2013 the leafs will win the cup. Quote

overthere Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 It will be like voting for your favorite corpse. The CBC will end up with a theme song and nowhere to play it after this season. Rogers will be making all editorial decisions after this season, including on HNIC. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
