CBC is asking for YOUR VOTE Canada, to give this Nation the Great Hock

I listened to the entries and was struck by the fact that 2 or 3 of them (maybe 4 or 5, I lost count) begin with "he shoots, he scores".

Those of us who grew up listening to Foster Hewitt can relate. He became famous for the phrase "He shoots, he scores!" and it looks like his legacy is strong. Maybe we need to revive it for the Leafs to win the cup in this lifetime.

I miss the old anthem. Wife was sick on Saturday so I sat down to watch HNIC for the first time in ... 8 years ? This crazy punk rock song came on to start the show.

That and the subsequent ad-fest made Saturday into Maple Leaf Web night in Canada for me.

I know what you mean. We need a good consistent "theme song" that becomes the face of hockey -and that's what the CBC contest is all about a search for the song that has the potential to become the next anthem.

All good shows have that instant recogniton song -think Bonanza, Hawai five 0, the old hockey anthem, etc.etc., etc.

If we find that in 2013 the leafs will win the cup.

The CBC will end up with a theme song and nowhere to play it after this season.

Rogers will be making all editorial decisions after this season, including on HNIC.
