So....what's "keeping tabs"? The Government proposes or does something, they complain....seems a rather simple exercise.....So why does the NDP require a larger "shadow cabinet" then the actual cabinet?

You'll find "The Shadow" know more about the ministries more than the minister (eg Megan Leslie vs Peter Kent). In addition outside of the 15s sound bites you hear on Sun News, the critics are actually researching and proposing policy alternatives; just like the CPC did in opposition; for you know smaller gov't, transparency & accountability and other passé ideas today.

But why is a decrease warranted? Are there no positive attributes, in your opinion, born from diversification?

There are positive attributes to diversification but it has to be coupled with prioritizattion.

What ministers would I surplus?

Ministers for Francophonie, Languages, Multiculturalism or Labour and Employment or Environment, Agro, Fisheries

That's a start.

I beg to differ.....Jack Harris = No Defense Policy

And I don't watch Sun News.......

None the less, that doesn't explain why the NDP has a larger Shadow Cabinet then the Government.

And to whom in Government would set said priorities? Say like the Governing party……or in the case of (larger) shadow cabinet, the NDP?
So what be the problem if both parties have numerous “priorities”?

That's a start.

And why is that?

The criticisms about rewarding loyalty with posts makes no sense. All political parties do this when they can. The Liberals previous lock on message and puppeteering puts Harper's to shame. The CPC actually has private members who are allowed to make noise and have their own voice to some extent, something that would never be tolerated in the Liberals or NDP, and in fact isn't as we have recently seen.

That's just how the system works. You guys criticizing Harper, if you were allowed to hand-pick his cabinet yourselves you would still find reason to criticize it. It makes no difference, you will not vote for him no matter what he picks.

But more to the point, who cares? Does it really make any difference? The only one that really matters is top diplomat because relationships matter for trade.
